New new Mele ICS 4.0.4 firmware released: mele_HTPC_120909_V1.2 blue sky

Again a new Mele firmware:
mele_HTPC_120909_V1.2 blue sky UI
from its name I suspect a more out-of-China friendly firmware (i.e. without the specific frontend).

Here is the original forum: http://bbs.mele.cn/showtopic-925.aspx

"Andrews patch 1.0.apk" patch in order to get sound in some videos:

Edit: this is an update.zip and not a complete firmware.
From the bbs.mele.cn site, you must follow this tutorial:

http://bbs.mele.cn/showtopic-941.aspx
(click on the first link in the post)
but I guess the slatedroid.com method should work:
Mele A1000/A2000 install CWM & CM9/AOKP. All mods.

  1. Hi, the patch's sound can be heard for DTS and AC3 audio? This patch compatible with the official version 4.04?
Could you tell me how to install the firmware V1.2 sky blue?
The mele A2000 becomes very slow to me after a while of use with the official versions, most of the time I see the sign "force close" the app.
Thank you very much and hopefully answers!

    1. Hi,
yes, the patch is for the sound and for the 4.0.4 firmware.
Indeed I did not pay attention: this firmware is an update and not a complete firmware.

      The original post is here:

The post #12 mentions this link for the update procedure:
      http://bbs.mele.cn/showtopic-941.aspx
      if you can read Chinese...
I will try to understand this process since I want to keep my user data when I try a new firmware.

    1. Should be OK... did you use 3.0.6 version of phoenixcard? Like this one: http://www.lundman.net/ftp/mele/PhoenixCardV306_2012_03_02.zip
It should handle the .img file correctly.

  5. Will give it a try again tomorrow. Is your custom version any faster, more smooth than the original one? And one more thing, is it possible to overclock the Mele alittle bit to get some improvet performance? If so, how can i do it? Regards Jonas

  6. I've been fiddling with the overclock and the highest it gets is 1152mhz with stock voltage, with a modified kernel (and governors) you can get up to 1.5ghz with higher voltages (obtained with the governors).. CM9 / AOSP do that.. sadly I don't have much time to check the kernel and the modules used in those builds

    Cheers!

    1. I don't know if it is safe to overclock this device.
      From this forum:

It is possible to overclock a little but no up to 1.5ghz ; this most probably needs a cooling system.

  8. hmm, the app Root Checker says i have root access. But none of the programs i have can run, giving me a SuperUser error. I have installed Superuser and busybox. Am i missing something?

    1. Do you have an example of a failing program? Perhaps they do not check properly the busybox location, or they want a particular "su" binary...
